Here are some reminders and information on what is available in the cafeteria, and some guidelines that we follow.

No outside food or drink is allowed in the cafeteria during mealtimes, except what a parent brings for their own child(ren). This applies to ALL GRADE LEVELS PK-9. Parents may bring ONLY for their own child, not also for relatives or friends or classmates.  This is a direct violation of the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy, and violations could result in fines up to $3000 for our school. All cafeteria visitors MUST check in at the front office and receive a visitor’s badge.

The cafeteria offers a hot breakfast and lunch each day, along with two sandwich choices daily at lunchtime. Children in grades 5-10 may order from the Café menu, which includes a 15-item salad bar and other favorites like pizza, fruit plate and chicken strip dinner. Meals are pre-ordered each day for grades PK-5. The lunch count is taken in the classroom first thing in the morning.  Review the menu with your child each evening, and help them choose their lunch for the next day.

All meals are PREPAID.   Money must be on deposit in your child’s meal account at all times. If the account goes negative, the child may be restricted to the alternate meals only and no extra items until the account is returned to a prepaid status.

There is only one microwave in the cafeteria. It will be available to over 140 students at a time during their 30 minute lunch period, so we strongly encourage your child to order school meals, or bring a cold lunch from home. Children may only use the microwave if they are able to without assistance.  If we have issues with burned food in the microwave, we will remove it from the cafeteria. Ramen-noodle soups are NOT ALLOWED at any time due to risk of burns and length of cook time. Do not bring foods that require more than 2 minutes cook time.

Our cafeteria offers a variety of snacks on the serving line each day, including fresh fruit, juices, milk, water, yogurt, string cheese, nuts, small salads, protein bars, granola bars, baked and reduced-fat chips and snacks, jerky, small cookies and small ice cream and frozen yogurt items.  Students may also order extra servings of their meal entrée or purchase leftover desserts on the line. Our policy is to limit extra items and snacks to two each day for grades PK-2 and three each day for grades 3-10.  Please discuss with your child your agreement for their snack and extra item purchases, such as how many per day or week, or which day they can have snacks (like ice cream on Friday only). If you do not want to your child to purchase extra items or snacks, you may complete a form for us to flag the account at the cashier. The only option for the flagged accounts is none. We cannot flag accounts for certain days, items, or numbers of items.

You may log on to our online meal payment and tracking system, LUNCH MONEY NOW, from our website at www.londonisd.net. There you can make payments online, and monitor your student’s meal and snack purchases and account balance. You can also set up email alerts to notify you of low account balances. This is a great tool for keeping money in your accounts.

We hope your children enjoy their meals and their time in the cafeteria. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Vicki George, Child Nutrition Director, or Clay Campbell, Principal.
